Searching for Hopper: Pawprints in Snow
Hopper's hops never stop, especially when pesky critters enter his yard. He will bound from one side of the yard to the other, letting them know whose yard they're in. But, outside the yard, Hopper is not so brave. Poor little Hopper spent his young life inside because his first owner couldn't care for him. He was adopted at nine months old by his new family. From day 1, Hopper fit perfectly in June's furry family and sealed his spot in her heart.
Starlight is a Great Pyrenees / Siberian Husky mix who is Hopper's best friend and big sister. She joined June and Fasa when she was four months old from a rescue center. Like Hopper, she is afraid of everything outside of her fenced in yard. But the Husky in her forgets all that when she feels the vast wilderness under her feet and open air at her muzzle! She is a runner. Nothing stops her. Not even her bad hips. It's in her blood.
Fasa, the eldest, embodies gentleness and devotion. While he naturally protects Starlight and Hopper, his strongest bond is with June. He serves as her constant companion and caretaker. During Hopper's disappearance, Fasa proved his loyalty in remarkable ways. When June slipped on unstable snow and tumbled down a hillside, he quickly positioned himself to block her fall. He also demonstrated his tracking skills by following Hopper's pawprints in the snow.
June Winter lives in a tiny home with her three big dogs and all her books. She never dreamed she would have three dogs, especially three 70lb. ones, but they all have a piece of her heart. That became evident one early morning. Through a series a terrible circumstance, the back gate in fenced in yard was opened during the night. When June let the pups out early the next morning to do their business, a little creature caught their attention instead . . . and off they went!
